Phi Sigma Iota

As discussed in our 6 September 2019 faculty meeting, here are the criteria for admission to Phi Sigma Iota, the International Foreign Language Honor Society:

  1. Undergraduate students should be enrolled at the University of Mississippi as students in good standing (without probation), have completed at least one course at the University of Mississippi in a foreign language at the third-year level, have completed 45 semester hours or its equivalent, and have a minimum grade point average in all course work of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
  2. Graduate students should be enrolled in a graduate program in languages or linguistics, have attained a high degree of competence in at least one foreign language, have completed 12 semester hours of graduate work or equivalent, and have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
